Abidjan is to host the inaugural general assembly for the network of chief technical officers of the cities and territories of Africa from July 3 to 5.

At least 120 chief technical officers are expected from the five regions of Africa expected to attend.

The assembly organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior  and Security of the Republic of Ivory  Coast; the Union of Towns and Municipalities of Ivory  Coast (UVICOCI); and the Association of Regions of Ivory  Coast (ARDCI), United Cities and Local Governments of Africa  (UCLG Africa) (www.AfriqueLocale.org).

The official opening ceremony  will be  chaired by His Excellency Hamed Bakayoko, Minister of State  and the Minister of Interior and Security of Ivory Coast.

There will be an accompanying two days of training  around the theme, “Development of Territories and  Climate Change: Realities, constraints  and opportunities”, organized  in  partnership with the association, “ENERGIES 2050”.

This training will be the first response by UCLG Africa to  requests from African local governments to strengthen their  capacities in the implementation of the Paris Accord on  Climate Change and in the preparation of dossiers for access  to climate finance.
