Ganduje signs the private health institutions board law

Kano state governor Abdullahi Ganduje has assented a law establishing Private Health Institutions Management Board.

The state assembly passed the law on July 12.

A second law awaits the governor’s assent—the Kano State Health Trust Fund Bill (KHETFUND) which passed with overwhelming majority on the floor of the house on July 8.

The law is to ensure sustainable financing of the health sector in the state.

It proposes a month 5% deduction of the total revenue generated from taxation and 1% monthly from total statutory allocation to the 44 LGAs of state.

The fund could generate up to N2.5 billion a year.
