Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) and the African Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ) have issued two Freedom of Information requests demanding that the government account for the use of recovered looted money.

The first request is for “illegally acquired assets” confiscated by Switzerland and restituted to Nigeria, according to a statement released by the Centre lead director Eze Onyekpere.

The second request is for “stolen assets” seized by the UK and returned to Nigeria.

The request is to provide information on the purpose for which the money has been “disbursed and deployed”, details of beneficiaries to include names and contact information or details of projects for which the money has been used.

The request does not include funds from appropriation or borrowing.

The second request for information on assets returned from the UK also demands specific information on loot recovered from the Malabu oil deal.
